First audition

Lauren had her first audition tonight at the UCLA film school for a short film. The director liked her and came out to speak to us. She said they will be calling or emailing next week for a call back.

We are shopping around for a new agent and Lauren has two potential appointments with large agencies here in LA. We should be set by next week.

Still raining like crazy!

Our first week and first audition

So it was a fun but very busy week. We were on the go all week. So much for relaxing.

Lauren had two acting classes, two singing lessons, two more acting lessons, 15 hours of school, more homework and Two auditions.

She auditions for Sound of Music. They loved her but we will probably pass as she also had a short movie audition set for this Sunday. This will be her first film audition. Looking forward to it!

She sang at Karoake Wednesday night and the parents were amazed at her voice (in comparison to the rest of the kids). It made me proud.

We met and signed with her manager. It is actually a team of two managers. One is Nichelle who runs Lauren's summer camp and is probably the reason we are in LA currently. The new one is Kat and she works closely with the record industry. She has worked with writers of music for Hannah Montana, High School Musical and Raven.

She felt Lauren has "Star" quality... Whatever that means. She thinks she is small for age, great raw acting talent and thinks she could go far in LA if that is what Lauren wants.

That is scary for Lauren's mom! We will see.

Micah is enjoying all the freedom and overall we are having fun.

There is a tornado warning, flash flood warning and lots of Rain. So much for being in Sunnny Southern California.

That is all for now. Hope to post photos this week. Lisa

Concert Highlights

Well we made it through the concert. What a ball. Lauren must have turned to me 20 times to say "Thank you MOM your the best." She had a great time. Will post pictures soon.

Lauren got her first audition today for Sound of Music. The woman said she had a strong voice and they liked her a lot.

We are also trying to get an audition for a movie with Ashton Kushton called Father's Day. It will film this Spring.

Lauren had her first private acting lesson and the woman was very impressed. She thinks that we need a new agent so she is recommending her to several top agents.

Hannah Montana Mania

Well I was figuring out our weekend plans on ticketmaster and as I was online, they flashed that they were releasing seats to the sold out Hannah Montana concert at the MGM grand in Los Vegas. So I surprised Lauren with a road trip and we are off for a weekend.

I got my tickets for less than $50 as many of you know that parents are paying thousands (up to 5,000 was reported on CNN).

Lauren is beside herself. I am not sure if I have ever seen her so excited.

We arrived in LA

We have officially arrived in LA. It is sunny and 60 which is a far cry from Anchorage. We arrived at our apartment which is very nice. Lauren starts lessons tomorrow. We have several meetings set up this next week.

The apartment complex has casting directors come in three nights a week, Karoake every Wednesday, a great pool and lots of young wanna be actors running around!

We will let you know how things go. Lisa Owens

Some updates

So we have an apartment in LA. Lauren will be attending school at the apartment complex from 9-12. There are 600 kids going to Pilot Season at this apartment complex alone. It is where many young stars star such as Hilary Duff. They bring in agents, managers, casting directors two nights a week. They have a viewing room and lots of stuff going on.

Lauren has voice lessons twice a week and 4 days a week of acting class in addition to school and her auditions (pray we get one or two).
Will post some sunny LA photos soon.

We will be arriving Jan 17th so please send lots of emails to akspeechclinic@yahoo.com

Look foward to hearing from everyone!
